Cork is a growing hub for business

BDO in Ireland delivers a range of professional services across audit, tax, advisory, corporate finance, business and technology consulting and the firm is seeing growth across all areas. From a Cork perspective, Aidan says all service lines are growing, and currently there is a huge demand for HR system implementation with engagement, staff retention and payroll issues being top of the agenda.

“These are all delivered to global clients from Cork, which is also seen as a centre of excellence for HR systems across the wider global BDO network,” he says.

“From a business consulting perspective, we’re seeing change management services as a huge demand area. We help companies on that journey from ‘why change’ to ‘how you need to change’, while supporting that execution from a technology and people perspective.”

An important enabler for our growth in Cork was moving the office from Little Island to Penrose Dock. Aidan says this has been key to increasing headcount and expanding service delivery to global clients. “This has also allowed us to begin offering clients the full suite of BDO in Ireland’s services from a local base in Cork”, he adds.

“We certainly see Cork as a growing hub for local and international business development over the coming years. Our own story is a living example of this – we’re based in Cork, but our business is accelerating across Ireland, UK and globally. We’re all excited by the latest investment announcements to develop in the city centre and surrounding areas. There’s no doubt that this will attract even more leading organisations and talent to the region.”
