The Corporate Governance Institute raises €2m funding
The company said it plans to expand into Europe, the UK and across the globe, adding a further 20 staff and expanding product development.
Founded during the pandemic in 2020, the company is a 'digital-first' EdTech business with all courses available online.
David W Duffy, CEO and co-founder said the process of becoming a certified board member has been slow to embrace new and updated technologies.
"At the Corporate Governance Institute, we are digital-first and on a mission to simplify director education making it both affordable and accessible," he said.
He said the certifications are particularly applicable to regulated sectors such as financial services, pharma and healthcare.
Davy EIIS Fund, which is providing the funding, is managed by BES Management DAC, a joint venture between BDO and Davy.
With less than 1% of board members around the world certified, Sinead Heaney, Partner with BDO, said they see a global opportunity for The Corporate Governance Institute.
"We are excited and look forward to supporting and assisting them to execute their ambitious plans to further scale and internationalise the business," she said.
